Gujarat Elections: For BJP it is not ‘Chunaav’ but ‘Chunauti’ says Shatrughan Sinha

On the occasion of Congress leader Manish Tewari’s book launch, BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha said Gujarat assembly election is not just a ‘chunav’ (poll) for the BJP but also a ‘chunauti’ (challenge).

The outspoken MP is known for his comments against his own political party. Shatrughan Sinha at a panel discussion on the Tewari’s book ‘Tidings of Troubled Times’ defended his move to support senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha against his comments on Demonetisation and GST. He said, he was not challenging his party but “showing the mirror to it” in the BJP’s and the nation’s interest.  “if a lawyer can talk about finances, if a TV actress can be the HRD minister and if a ‘chaiwala’ can be… then why I cannot talk about economy?” he asserted.

On the upcoming Gujarat elections, the MP said, “From the writing on the wall and anger among people over GST, demonetization, unemployment…seeing it, I don’t want to say how many seats the BJP will get but certainly this election is going to be a special challenge.”

Meanwhile, when he was asked about joining another political party he answered it in his Bollywood style and said,”Khamosh.” “I joined BJP because of 2-4 people, but, if Indira Gandhi was alive, I would have joined the Congress,” he added

On the same occasion using a Hindi idiom Shotgun Sinha stated GST and Demonetisation as “karela pe neem Chadha.”
