Gujarat Assembly Polls: PM Modi urges youths to cast vote

New Delhi, Dec 9: As crucial Gujarat’s assembly polls is herePrime Minister Narendra Modi has encouraged people to turn out in record numbers and especially urged the youngsters to cast their votes.

The first of the two-phase polls started in the state at 8 a.m. on Saturday throughout 89 constituencies spread out in the 19 districts of Kutch, Saurashtra and southern regions.

Taking to Twitter , Modi said “Phase 1 of Gujarat polls begin. Urging all those voting today to turnout in record numbers and vote. I particularly call upon youngsters to exercise their franchise”.

Voting will end at 5 p.m. There are atotal of 24,689 polling booths.

Of the 2,12,31,652 voters, 1,11,05,933 are males and 1,01,25,472 females while 247 are from the third gender, news agency IANS reported.

The second phase of polls will held on December 14 and counting, along with that of Himachal Pradesh on December 18.
