New Delhi, Dec 20: Ahead of the general elections 2019, a grand alliance of the Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal, Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) in Bihar was announced on Thursday.
Addressing a press conference, Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel said that “We welcome Shri Upendra Kushwaha and his party to the alliance of Congress and other like-minded parties in Bihar”.
RLSP Chief Upendra Kushwaha who recently quit the NDA over seat allocation for Lok Sabha elections, stated ” We had said that we have many options and UPA was one of them. The wholeheartedness shown by Rahul Gandhi and Lalu Yadav is one of the reasons I joined but the biggest reason I’m here is the people of Bihar”.
Kushwaha attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying ” he had promised education, healthcare, and employment in Bihar during elections. But, the youth of Bihar are still migrating in large numbers to other parts of the country for livelihood. PM Modi failed on his promises”.
Leaders of Mahagathbandhan in Bihar, including Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) leader Jitan Ram Manjhi, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and Congress leaders Ahmed Patel and Shaktisinh Gohil met in the national capital.
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said “This is not an alliance of political parties, but an alliance of voices of people. This is a fight against people who have betrayed the country. There is an undeclared emergency in the country today”.
Meanwhile, Sharad Yadav told media “We are all aware of what the country is going through today. This has led to a movement for unity in the country”.
