Lucknow, Feb 22: Allahabad High Court on Thursday rejected a petition seeking to re-investigate Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s alleged role in Gorakhpur 2007 riots.

A division bench, headed by Justices Krishna Murari and AC Sharma, came up with the verdict and refused to entertain the petition against the BJP leader.

In 2008, the petition was filed by Parvez Parwaz and Asad Hayat. It had demanded a probe by an independent agency into the case under sections 302, 307, 153A, 395 and 295 of the IPC, which pertain to murder and rioting.

At least 10 people lost their lives in the riots that took place in January 2007.
