New Delhi, July 17, 2017: Opposition parties pick for Vice-Presidential poll GopalKrishna Gandhi is likely to file his nomination paper on July 18.
“I will file my nomination day after tomorrow,” the former West Bengal Governor told media after a meeting of opposition parties addressed by Congress President Sonia Gandhi.
The Opposition’s candidate for President’s post-Meira Kumar also attended the meeting.
Opposition leaders, including AICC general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad, CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury and TMC’s Derek O’Brien had called the former governor from the meeting to seek his consent.
The JD(U), which had broken ranks with the opposition over the presidential poll, also attended the meeting which chose Mahatma Gandhi’s grandson to be its nominee for Vice-president.
The election for President’s post will be held on Monday while the new Vice President will be elected on August 5.
