New Delhi, June 14: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) revealed that eminent film and theatre personality Girish Karnad and several litterateurs and rationalists were on the hit list of those suspected of killing journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh.
It revealed that the suspects did not intent to gun down just Lankesh, and in fact had a hit list, which features named of eminent personalities such as film and theatre personality Girish Karnad.
The Special Investigation Team probing the Gauri Lankesh murder case revealed the larger plot that was being hatched against rationalists in Karnataka.
The SIT believes that the diary found in the possession of suspected mastermind of the murder – Amol Kale from Pune – also had a list of names of other rationalists from Karnataka, who were allegedly the gang’s next targets.
The probe team recovered a diary from the suspects and most of the entries have reportedly in Devanagari script. The probe team said that suspects have used coded language and once those are cracked more details are likely to come to light.
