New Delhi, Sep 23: As part of Swachh Bharat Mission aimed to have cleanliness all around and to kick out all the diseases spread from the unhygienic conditions, the union government has decided to start a week-long cleanliness drive across the country from September 25, said an official statement.
The initiative termed as ‘Swachh Bharat Week’ is also being held to celebrate the second anniversary of Swachh Bharat Mission which was launched on October 2, 2014.
The week-long drive will also include a day-long India Sanitation Conference (INDOSAN-2016) on September 30 at Vigyan Bhavan organised by the Ministry of Urban Development and Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate INDOSAN in the presence of Chief Ministers, Ministers In-charge of Urban Development and Sanitation, senior officials, collectors among others, said the statement.
The best performers in 11 categories for their spirited campaign towards ensuring cleanliness will be felicitated by the Prime Minister.
According to the communique issued by the government, Cabinet Secretary P.K. Sinha will head an inter-ministerial plenary session on ‘Enhancing Convergence for Swachh Bharat Mission’.
