HOLI IS A SPRING FESTIVAL OF COLOURS CELEBRATED ACROSS NORTH INDIA , ALSO KNOWN AS THE FESTIVAL OF SHARING LOVE. THIS FESTIVAL OF COLOURS ALSO MARKS THE DIVINE LOVE BETWEEN LORD KRISHNA AND RADHA.
According to myth, young Kahna dark complexion make him extremely jealous of Radha as she was fair complexion.
One day, he complained his mother about the injustice done by nature in making him dark and Radha fair. To influence her son, Yashoda (Krishna’s mother) told him to colour Radha’s face in whichever colour he wanted to. Acting on his mother’s advice, Krishna applied colour on Radha’s face making her like himself.
It is believed that Krishna’s applying colour on Radha and other gopis became popular and was later evolved as a tradition and a festival of holi.
