GD Goenka Student death case: Parents move SC, demand CBI probe

GD Goenka Student death case

New Delhi, September 15: In an attempt to ascertain the truth behind the death of their nine-year-old kid, his parents knocked at Supreme Court demanding a CBI probe into the matter.

Armaan Sehgal died allegedly after he slipped and fell at GD Goenka school on August 1 when he dashed out of his classroom to take his pencil box. On the second floor of the school building he allegedly slipped and fell on a corridor.

But the mysterious conditions have led his parents to demand a CBI Probe into the case.

Gulshan Sehgal, father of the victim sought CBI or a SIT probe in his plea for a thorough and fair investigation alleging that the school management has already destroyed evidence in the case.

The plea said some members of the school management, including the chairman, director, and principal, have moved the Allahabad HC seeking quashing of the FIR and the court had granted them interim protection from arrest and directed that no coercive action should be taken against them.

It has also asked a stay against the interim orders of the HC issued on August 11 and September 6. However, the HC denied the fact that police reached the crime scene almost four hours late, and by that time, the school authorities had destroyed and tampered with crucial evidence, the petition said.

UP Police was also blamed for not probing the case properly due to which the school authorities had tampered with the scene of the crime and cleared all evidence.
