The SIT last month released three sketches of persons suspected to be involved in the killing and its conspiracy giving an account of the probe conducted by using technical data such as CCTV footage.
Prior to this the investigation revealed that the 7.65 mm countrymade gun used to kill Lankesh was the same one used to murder M M Kalburgi in Dharwad on August 30, 2015.
Lankesh, known for her outspoken views was shot dead from a close range at her house in Rajarajeshwari Nagar (in the suburbs) around 8 p.m. According to initial reports, three unidentified assailants fired three to five bullets at Lankesh, with one hitting her in the forehead and another in the chest, and fled as she collapsed on the spot.
