New Delhi, May 30: A Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Wednesday submitted 661-page charge sheet in the murder of journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh case.

According to news agency ANI, the SIT mentioned 131 statements, including that of Forensic Science Laboratory officers and accused KT Naveen and Praveen, in the chargesheet.

While Naveen was arrested in February, the Karnataka police team recently arrested four more people in connection with the murder.

As per the Indian Express, the four more accused have been identified as Amol Kale alias Bhaisab from Maharashtra; Amit Degwekar alias Pradeep from Goa; Manohar Edave of Vijayapura in Karnataka; and Sujeet Kumar alias Praveen from Mangalore.

Kumar was taken into custody by the investigating team for questioning after he was booked by the Crime Branch on 19 February under the Arms Act for illegal possession of 15 bullets of a revolver.

The Special Investigation Team on March 3 arrested him in connection with the cold-blooded murder of Kannada tabloid Editor.

Lankesh, 55, the Editor of “Lankesh Patrike”, was shot dead outside her residence in the city’s southwestern suburb by unidentified assailants on September 5 in 2017 by unidentified assilants. Of the seven bullets fired, three hit Lankesh — two in the chest and one in the forehead.
