Beijing, July 21: A section of natural gas pipeline broke and caught fire in Enshi City, a city in central China’s Hubei Province, on Wednesday morning, killing atleast two and injuring seven others.

According to the rescuers, the pipeline fracture was caused by rain-triggered landslide and the fire is likely to continue for following days until the residual gas burns out, Xinhua reported.

Five houses were burnt and 89 residents from 55 households were affected. The blast took place at 6:20 a.m. local time, continued around 10 seconds and a tremor was felt more than 10 kilometres away, according to witnesses.

Three people sustained injuries and hospitalised, while four others suffered minor injuries.

However, the traffic will be back to the lane by Thursday, deputy mayor of Enshi Peng Biwu said.
