New Delhi, Dec 8: The special arrested a gangster who was involved in the murder case of former Delhi legislator Bharat Singh as well as around two dozen cases of extortion, murder, and other serious crimes.
The Special Cell arrested Manjeet Singh in wee hours on Wednesday from Dwarka area of west Delhi following a tip-off after he arrived to meet one of his associates to procure weapons to eliminate rival gang members.
A 9 mm pistol and 52 live cartridges were seized from his possession, police said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Special Cell, P.S. Kushwah stated that Manjeet Singh, a resident of Mitraon village in Najafgarh, was involved in the murder of Bharat Singh, a former Indian National Lok Dal legislator from Najafgarh and Sunil in 2015 and the Police Commissioner had set a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head.
Manjeet Singh, who has a rivalry with Krishan Pahelwan gang, was roaming around the Delhi-National Capital Region from some days, and teams of Special Cell were deployed in Najafgarh, Dwarka, Gurgaon and Chattarpur area to locate his hideout, he said.
