New Delhi, Sep 13: Amid ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’ chants, a 10-day festival of Ganesh Chaturthi began on Thursday with people offering prayers to idols of the elephant-headed Hindu god.

On the occasion of Ganpati Utsav which marks birth of Lord Ganesha, devotees in large numbers thronged to the Vinayaka Ganesha temples where special prayers were conducted.

Public celebrations were also held in most parts of the state capital with huge Ganesh idols placed inside beautiful pandals.

Devotees also bring idols of Lord Ganesha at their homes with great zeal and fervour.
