Gambling racket in Kolkata club busted


Kolkata, Oct 14: As many as 32 people, including the manager and employees for an illegal casino running in posh South Kolkata on Friday morning.

Police also seized Rs 6.5 lakh and token worth Rs 55 lakh used for gambling in the club.

People were arrested from Imperial Club on Camac Street and will be produced before the court on Friday.

The Kolkata police’s detective department raided the club located at central part of the city at around midnight on Thursday and they found sufficient evidence to conclude that the club was running a gambling racket in the veil of card games like poker, police said.

“We have also seized numerous gambling chips worth Rs 55 lakh and incriminating transaction documents from here,” said Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Vishal Garg.
