“Freedom for Kashmir” poster surfaces in JNU, taken down

New Delhi, March 3, 2017: Amid the on-going clashes between RSS left-wing ABVP and Left-backed student unions, a poster demanding “Freedom for Kashmir and Palestine” emerged on the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus on Thursday.

JNU campus is a place which has been a sufferer of turmoil and “anti-national activities” for over a year now.

Members of the Democratic Students Union are believed to have been put up the sign, which read: “Freedom for Kashmir! Free Palestine! Right to Self-Determination Long Live!”. It is signed off with “DSU”.

The JNU administration, however, ordered its security staff to take down a poster soon after the matter was brought into its notice.

The Democratic Students Union (DSU) is the same group whose former members Umar Khalid, Anirban Bhattacharya and others organised a protest rally on February 9, 2016, against the hanging of Parliament attack mastermind Afzal Guru and Kashmiri separatist Maqbool Bhat.

Police slapped sedition charges on these students for allegedly raising anti-national slogans during the rally.
