Forming an alliance with BJP was like drinking poison: Mehbooba Mufti

Srinagar, July 30 :Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supremo Mehbooba Mufti said that forming an alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party was difficult and compared it to consuming poison.

Mehbooba Mufti  said she had reservations about joining hands with the BJP right from the beginning but  “Mufti Mohammad Sayeed agreed to join hands with BJP last time because it was a good alliance during Vajpayee’s reign.”

Mufti alleged that she suffered the during the two years and two months of alliance.

Mufti, recently, has accused BJP of of horse-trading and using National Investigation Agency (NIA) to break Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).The PDP chief alleged that her party MLAs were being “coerced and threatened” to leave the party with NIA raids.

On June 19, the Bharatiya Janata Party pulled out of its alliance with PDP, following which Mufti submitted her resignation as the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir.

The PDP has 28 MLAs in the Assembly, the BJP (25), National Conference (15), Congress (12), Peoples Conference (2) and Independents.
