Flood water washing away lives in Pakistan, 26 killed, many missing


Islamabad, Aug 7: At least 29 people lost lives and many missing as heavy rains idundated Pakistan’s Sindh and Balochistan provinces, the media reported on Sunday.

In Karachi at least 14 people were killed and several others injured in the port city, Xinhua news agency reported.pakistan-wefornews

NGO Edhi Foundation informed that eight people died of electrocution while six were killed in separate incidents of roof collapse.

Road and air traffic were disturbed after heavy downpour, which started on Friday and continued till Sunday.

Numerous roads in Karachi remained flooded and many electricity poles fell down, suspending power supply to various areas.

The Met office said the city received 30 mm to 56 mm of rain on Sunday.pakistan-wefornewsEight people were killed, five injured and eight went missing in Harnai district of Balochistan over the last two days, officials said.

A police official said six cars were drowned in the district.

The floodwater washed away cars with 21 people inside. The bodies of eight had been retrieved till Sunday afternoon.
