Five UAE diplomats die in Afghan blast


Kabul, Jan 11, 2017: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Wednesday said five of its diplomats were killed in an attack in Kandahar city in Afghanistan.

A statement from the UAE Foreign Ministry said they were targeted while on a mission regarding development, humanitarian and educational projects in Afghanistan, Efe news agency reported.

Thirty-eight people were killed and over 70 others were injured in two back to back explosions in Kabul city of Afghanistan.

According to the security officials, a suicide bomber riding a vehicle detonated his explosives following the first blast near provincial government guest house this evening.

The officials further added that both the blasts took place due to suicide attacks.

However, the Taliban militants group claimed responsibility behind the explosions.
