Five picnickers drowned in Purwa falls


The authorities are on a search mission for five picnickers who have been missing since falling down Purwa Falls in Rewa Madhya Pradesh, an official said on Thursday.

The incident took place when five people were picnicking on Wednesday at the Tamsa river bank in Samaria area and water was released from Bakia dam, Sub-Divisional Officer (revenue) Dharmendra Mishra informed media.

The suddenly swollen stream washed the five away and threw them down the falls, he said.

They have been missing since then.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan expressed grief over the incident and said he has told the Rewa administration to do all they can to look for the five persons.
