Mumbai, Oct 15, 2017: Singers Ankit Tiwari, Shilpa Rao and Akriti Kakkar have racked up a fresh controversy after a US-based event management company has registered a cheating case against the singers for not performing at Oshiwara Police station. The company alleged that the singers were paid Rs 30 lakh for the show.
Based on the complaint, the Mumbai police have registered a cheating case against Ankit Tiwari and others. According to reports, the police have issued a notice to the singers, who will be summoned for questioning. Notably, Ankit Tiwari, Shilpa Rao and Akriti Kakkar are currently not in town.
The complainant alleges that once the money was received, two years on, they are still to respond to the commitment.
The complainant, Deep Kumar Vora has alleged that despite him flying down to Mumbai from the US especially to speak to them and sort out the matter, the singers haven’t replied to him. He had asked them to either refund the amount or do the promised show. But they received no response again and hence “were compelled to file an FIR against them”.
Inspector Arjun Rajane of Oshiwara police station said, “We will be calling them for a statement soon. The singers are not in town right now but they have been summoned.”
