Gurdaspur , April 27: Kavita Khanna, the wife late Union Minister and actor Vinod Khanna, after being denied a ticket by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Gurdaspur Lok Sabha constituency, said the party has a right to decide the candidate but the manner it was done she felt abandoned and rejected.

“I felt hurt because I understand party the has right to decide candidate but there is a way of doing it, and the way it was done I felt abandoned and rejected, I was made to feel insignificant”, news agency ANI qouted Kavita as saying.

However, Kavita also extended her entire support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and stated she will make a personal sacrifice.

“It is my decision that I’m not going to make this a personal issue and make a personal sacrifice and put my entire might and support with Prime Minister Narendra Modi”.

Last week, the saffron party had announced candidature of former Bollywood actor Sunny Deol from the seat to contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Kavita was snubbed yet again by the BJP after being denied a nomination in 2017 as well.

The Gurdaspur Lok Sabha constituency fell vacant after Vinod Khanna, who had been a four-time Member of Parliament (MP) from here, passed away in 2017.
