After a section of Muslim community leaders accepted that they have no problem in chanting  ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ slogan  as because Islam doesn’t prohibit expressing love for one’s motherland,a top Islamic seminary Jamia Nizamia issued fatwa against chanting it

While issuing the fatwa against the slogan, the seminary declared that chanting ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ is un-Islamic and irrational and thus prohibited.

This controversy has been initiated by none other than  AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi ,who said  he would never chant ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’even if a knife is put to his throat, thus setting the political tempers high.

The seminary has said that if an individual belief to treat India as a mother than that view cannot be enforced on others.

But several prominent Muslim leaders  allege there might be a tacit understanding between the BJP and the MIM to keep bringing up contentious issues.

BJP chief Amit Shah said there should be no dispute over slogans like ‘Bharat Mata ki jai’.

Addressing the BJP national executive, party president Amit Shah asked why a slogan like ‘Bharat Mata ki jai’, associated with the freedom struggle and which predates BJP and RSS should be the subject of a debate. “Yeh behas hi beimani hai (this is debate is a betrayal)”.
Shah argued that martyrs like Bhagat Singh and Sukhdev went to the gallows with the slogan on their lips.
