Farmers’ protest in Delhi: Thousands converge at Parliament street

New Delhi, Nov 30: Thousands of farmers, across the country, converged at Parliament Street in the national capital demanding higher crop prices and farm loan waiver on Friday.

The march from Ramlila Maidan started at 10 a.m. and reached the Parliament street at 11.30 a.m.

The agitators are demanding a special session of the Parliament to pass two Private Members’ Bills seeking guaranteed remunerative price, complete loan waiver.

The two-day protest march ‘Kisan Mukti March’ has been organized under the banner of the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC).

In the wake of demonstrations, heavy security has been beefed up in Delhi.

The farmers began their protest two-day protest on Thursday as they marched to Ramlila Maidan.

This comes nearly a week after, farmers in Maharashtra staged a protest march from Thane to Azad Maidan in Mumbai, demanding assurance of higher MSP and implementation of the Swaminathan Committee recommendations.

“Delhi Police held multiple rounds of talks with farmers’ leaders and gave permission for rallying from Ramlila Maidan to Jantar Mantar, with conditions. We hope that they’ll follow the conditions”, he said.
