New Delhi, Feb 1 : On the day when Finance Minister Piyush Goyal announced direct annual income support of Rs 6,000 to farmers with land holding of two hectares, the farmers’ held a massive protest at the Delhi-Noida Direct (DND) flyway connecting Uttar Pradesh with the national capital leading to traffic jams on roads for more than two hours.The farmers are demanding fourfold compensation in lieu of their land acquisition.
Meanwhile, commuters are sharing their agony on social media.Those coming from Ghazipur and wishing to go to Mayur Vihar were asked to use the NH9 while others advised to take the Metro to avoid the mess. People were complaining why the Noida authority did not stop the farmers from entering Noida itself to avoid the chaos.
The Delhi-Noida (DND) flyway was shut while the NH 24, Kalindi Kunj, Sarita Vihar, Mathura Road and other major roads were affected due to the protest, the Delhi traffic police said in a tweet.
The Noida Traffic Police said there could be diversions made on the route as per requirements.
“People are advised to use alternate roads via Mayur Vihar and Kalindi Kunj for movement between Noida and Delhi to avoid inconvenience,” it had said in the advisory.
