Panaji, 10 Oct: Goa Police finally arrested ex-security guard who allegedly killed the high profile perfume lady Monika Ghurde.
Police have held Rajkumar Singh, a resident of Bhatinda, Punjab, who worked as a security guard in the apartment where Ghurde lived. He was sacked after Ghurde filed a complaint against him.
The accused was held from a guest house in Bengaluru’s Cottonpet, from where he was planning to flee to Chandigarh.
Ghurde was found dead in naked condition at her rented flat on Thursday in Sangolda.
Polorim police, after registering the case, formed special teams and sent them to various places like Delhi and Maharashtra, in order to chase the absconding culprit.
Things came to light during the investigation when it was found that Ghurde’s card was used at an ATM at Porvorim, about 3km from Ghurde’s residence. The accused was captured withdrawing money using Ghurde’s ATM card, police said on Saturday. Two men were seen in the camera of an ATM.
During the interrogation, Rajkumar revealed that his motive was to steal money, but when Monika started shouting and crying, he strangulated her to death.
Rajkumar would be brought to Goa on Monday where police will question him further after moving for remand.
