Ex-interim CBI chief Nageswara Rao claims ‘propaganda’ after Kolkata Police raids two locations

Kolkata, Feb 8 : Hours after the Kolkata Police on Friday conducted raids at two different places that are allegedly linked to former interim CBI Director M Nageshwar Rao, ex-investigative agency chief issued a press statement calling it a propaganda.

“All that is happening appears to be propaganda,”Rao said.

The raids were conducted in Kolkata and at Rao’s wife ‘s company Angelina Mercantile Pvt Ltd.

Issuing a press statement, Rao, however, refuted any link with M/s Angela Mercantile Pvt Ltd. “All that is happening, appears to be propaganda. In a statement dated, 30 Oct 2018, Rao had also refuted any link with M/s Angela Mercantile Pvt Ltd which is being raided by Kolkata Police today,” Nageshwar Rao said.

The raids were conducted a day after the Ministry of Home Affairs asked the West Bengal government to take action against five IPS officers in the state who participated in state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s dharna in Kolkata against the CBI’s bid to question Kolkata police chief Rajeev Kumar in the chit fund scam cases.on the night of 3 February, to ‘save the Constitution’.
