Patna, Jan 23: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday said that Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) are perfectly fine and it has strengthened people’s right to vote.
“EVM is perfectly fine&when there will be VVPAT (Voter-verifiable paper audit trail) at every booth, then there will be no problem at all”, he told media.
On voting machines hacking claims, the Chief Minister stated “I don’t agree with the things that are being said related to EVM. EVM has strengthened people’s right to vote”.
On Monday, US-based self-proclaimed cyber expert Syed Shuja triggered a storm by claiming that the 2014 Lok Sabha polls were “rigged” and also said that BJP leader and Former Union Minister Gopinath Munde was “killed” because he was aware of Electronic Voting Machines hacking.
However, the Election Commission of India has refuted the revealations made by Shuja and has lodged an FIR against him in New Delhi on Tuesday.
