Guntur, Jan 25 : Contrary to Baba Ramdev concerns over the uncontrolled and rapid population growth, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday batted for four children in every household stating concerns of the increasing death rate.
Addressing a self-help group in Guntur today, Naidu said that he is shocked by “today’s generation as Nowadays, youth is reluctant to get married. Even if they get married, they don’t want to conceive. It’s horrible. You’ve to take responsibility of bearing at least one child.”
Citing examples of China and Japan, Naidu said that these countries have a decreasing population and that same is the case in Europe as well. “Today we don’t have an issue in the country, but this problem may arise in the near future.”
The Telugu Desam Party supremo further said that his earlier decree for Panchayat polls, as per which those having more than two children cannot contest, has also been quashed.
“Birth to death ratio is decreasing. We’re removing the clause we set earlier that those having more than 2 kids aren’t eligible to contest in panchayat polls. We’ll encourage them even if they have 4 kids,” Naidu said.
Ramdev said those having more than two kids should be deprived of voting rights as well as the right to contest an election.Yoga guru Baba Ramdev received support from BJP MP Giriraj Singh for his statement on population control.
