Encounter underway in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore

Srinagar, July 17 :An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in Sopore district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday after an intelligence inputs of two terrorists being holed up at Gund Brath area of Sopore in Baramulla district.

The gun battle started after security forces comprising special operations group of state po lice (SOG) and Rashtriya Rifles (RR) surrounded the Gund Brath area on the town outskirts following information about terrorist presence.

The terrorists hiding in Sopore fired at the security forces.Meanwhile, authorities have reportedly suspended internet services in Sopore town to prevent any law and order problem. Some colleges in the area have been closed as a precautionary measure.

Earlier on July 5, a Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir.
