Encounter breaks out between security forces, terrorists in J&K’s Sopore


Srinagar, Feb 22: An encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in Sopore township of Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday morning.

Upon receiving a tip-off about the terrorists, the security forces started a search operation in Warpora village.

“As the cordon around the hiding militants was tightened, they fired at the security forces triggering the ongoing encounter,” news agency IANS quoted the police offical as saying.

Authorities have suspended mobile Internet services in Sopore and adjoining areas.

Restrictions have been imposed in the town to maintain law and order.
