Encounter between terrorists and Security Forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla

Srinagar, Sep 13 : An encounter is underway between  terrorists and the security forces  on Thursday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore town, where two terrorists are believed to be hiding in a house . Another search operation is also continuing  in Jhajjar Kotli for the second day today.

As the area was cordoned off, the terrorists started firing at security forces , thus heavy gunbattle is going on.Internet services has been suspended in the area.

Upon receiving a tip-off about the presence of terrorists, the security forces including personnel from Rashtriya Rifles (RR), the state police’s Special Operations Group (SOG and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), cordoned off the town’s Arampora area.

“As the cordon was tightened, the terrorists opened fire at  security forces triggering the ongoing gunfight,” the police said.

As a precautionary measure, authorities have suspended mobile internet services in Sopore.

Educational institutions were also asked to remain shut for the day.

Search operation is continuing in Jhajjar Kotli for the second day after terrorists, who were travelling in a truck, opened fire at a forest guard yesterday & fled the spot. The area has been cordoned off.
