New Delhi, Nov 22: Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal targeted the ruling Bharatiya Janta party on the issue of electoral bonds scheme introduced by the Narendra Modi government and said the electoral bonds is nothing but non-transparent Institutionalised corruption.

Prominent lawyer Sibal took a jibe at the BJP saying, “Some say BJP is now a $1billion political party . Congratulations !,”

“Electoral Bonds is nothing but non-transparent Institutionalised corruption . These bearer bonds , making sure that the name of the donor is withheld , is Institutionalised deception . Some say BJP is now a $1billion political party . Congratulations !,” Sibal tweeted on Friday.

A three-judge bench headed by then CJI Ranjan Gogoi told government in April 2019, “If the identity of the donor is unknown, your entire exercise to eliminate black money becomes a futile exercise.
The Supreme Court was hearing a PIL filed by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) that seeks either a stay on the bond scheme or a full disclosure of donors’ and recipients’ identities.
