New Delhi, Aug 29: In a blistering attack, Senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal today said the Indian economy is on life support, yet the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley lauded the way that it has performed.

Sibal took a jibe at the Narendra Modi government saying even those in kindergarten know that the economy is on life support.

“Rupee at the all-time low of 70.52 to a Dollar. Current Account Deficit at $18b , highest in the last five years . Yet FM lauds the way the economy has performed”, he tweeted.

His remarks were in reference to record low of the Rupee during the noon-trade session on Wednesday.

The currency opened on a lower note as well, falling 22 paise to 70.32 against the US dollar.

According to traders, higher crude oil prices, demand for rupee from importers and banks are the reasons for falling rupee.
