New Delhi, Dec 10: Reacting to RBI Governor Urjit Patel’s resignation, Senior Congress leader  Kapil Sibal made a satirical attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying PM thinks that he’s the biggest economist and he doesn’t need them.

“People he (PM) appointed are resigning, first Arvind Subramanian left as CEA and now it’s Urjit Patel. Economy is suffering, Modi thinks that he’s the biggest economist and he doesn’t need them, so they are resigning”, the former Union Minister told media.

Earlier in the evening, the Reserve Bank of India Governor resigned from his post citing personal reasons.

“On account of personal reasons, I have decided to step down from my current position (RBI Governor) effective immediately. It has been my privilege and honour to serve in the Reserve Bank of India in various capacities over the years”, Patel said in a statement.

In June this year, Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Subramanian also resigned due to personal reasons.
