Earthquake in North India: 4.4 magnitude quake shakes Amritsar, Lahore


Earthquake in North India: Within hours of an earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale hit Surat district in Gujarat this morning, another one has shaken residents in North India, especially Amritsar that has been measured at 4.4 magnitude.

The earthquake was also felt across Lahor in Pakistan.


In the early morning quake in Gujarat, no casualty or damage was reported, an official had revealed although panicked residents had scurried out of their home onto open ground.

The Gujarat earthquake occurred at 9:24 AM with its epicentre being recorded at Bhada village under Kamrej taluka of Surat district, nearly 24 kms north-west of Surat, he said.
