DRDO tests exo-atmospheric missile interception


New Delhi, Feb 11, 2017: The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) today successfully tested an exo-atmospheric missile ballistic interception as part of the ballistic missile defence program, sources informed.

A top DRDO official said, “At 7.45 a.m., on the east coast of India, an incoming missile was successfully intercepted at a height of 100 kms with a direct hit by an interceptor missile.”

The interceptor is based on the nuclear-capable Prithvi Missile.
