Dowry case: Congress to support Goa BJP VP’s daughter-in-law

Panaji, July 13 : The Goa Congress’s Women’s wing today said they will support the daughter-in-law of state BJP Vice President Anil Hoble, after the latter was booked over dowry harassment and assault charges on Wednesday.

Day after Hoble booked for assaulting and harassing over dowry his daughter-in-law along with his wife and son, Goa Mahila Congress President Pratima Coutinho told media that the party’s representatives would meet the victim and assure full support to fight the legal battle.

“She is a woman and is sad that a person with political clout has been harassing her and her family for dowry. We will meet the victim soon and support her in her struggle because it is a crime against a woman,” Coutinho stated.

All the three accused have been booked under sections 498 (a), 323 (causing hurt), 506 (ii) (criminal intention) and Sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961.

However, Hoble said the complaint is baseless and politically motivated to defame me and my family.
