New Delhi, Aug 28: A group of Supreme Court lawyers filed a petition to the Chief Justice of India to take suo moto cognizance of media reports that a law student from SS Law College in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur has gone missing from her college hostel.

Supreme Court lawyers say they don’t want another “Unnao case” to happen. Parents of the missing girl had filed a missing complaint with the police earlier, and have blamed college director and BJP leader, Swami Chinmayanand for it.

A case of kidnapping and criminal intimidation has been registered against former BJP MP Swami Chinmayanand by the Uttar Pradesh police after a 23-year-old law student, who had posted a video on social media accusing him of alleged harrasment, went missing on Saturday.

The student went missing from her college hostel in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.

The woman does not name anyone in her video, but her father has filed a missing complaint naming Chinmayanand, who is the president of the college management.
The police have, however, not addressed the allegation of sexual harassment made by the woman’s father.

Chinmayanand’s lawyer has rubbished the allegations, calling them an attempt to extort the former MP, who was once central minister for Internal Security.

Last week, the girl had posted a video on the social media claiming that she has some sort of proof which could land Swami Chinmayanand in trouble and alleged that due to this, the BJP leader is threatening to eliminate her and her family.

In the August 23 video, the girl is seen begging Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to help her out.

“I am (name withheld) from Shahjahanpur and am pursuing LL.M from SS College. A big leader of the saint society, who has destroyed the lives of several girls, has been threatening me with (my) life. I have all the evidence against him. I request Modi ji and Yogi ji to please help me. He has even threatened to kill my family.”

“Only I know what I have been going through. Modi ji please help me, he is a sanyasi and is threatening that the police, district magistrate and everyone else is on his side and no one can harm him. I request you all for justice,” said the girl.
