DMRC opens plant to recycle construction waste

New Delhi, Aug 20: The Delhi Metro Rail Corp (DMRC) on Sunday announced that it has opened a facility to recycle the waste products during its demolition and construction work.

A plant located at Delhi’s Rohini is going to manufacture green products such as aggregates, manufactured sand, concrete bricks, tiles, paver-blocks and kerb stones.

“The construction waste generated by DMRC is generally dumped at pre-designated sites identified and approved by the government. To utilize this waste, this new facility has been constructed,” the Delhi Metro Rail Corp (DMRC) said in a statement

The IL and FS Environment will administer the facility.

Delhi metro’s recycle will have the capacity to process 150 tonnes of waste per day, the official statement said adding the use of “wet technology” employed during the processing of materials will be able to reduce the dust and noise pollution.
