Dinkar Gupta appointed as Punjab DGP

Amritsar, Feb 7: Dinkar Gupta, a 1987 batch officer of the Indian Police Service, was appointed as the Director General of the Punjab Police on Thursday.

Gupta succeeded Suresh Arora, who had been on an extension after his retirement on September 30 last year.

Chief Minister Amarinder Singh cleared the appointment of Gupta.

Gupta is the senior most of the three officers, all of the same batch, to be empanelled for appointment to the top post by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) this week.
