Varanasi, March 4: Testing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s might in his own constituency, the Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and UP Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav have started a joint roadshow in the Varanasi today.
The roadshow was started from Ambedkar Chowk where both the leaders paid homage to Baba AmbedKar before initiating the road show.

It is roadshow versus roadshow day in the city of Gods today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his road show earlier in the day.
Huge crowd gathered to support Rahul and Akhilesh in Kashi today. The official twitter handle of Congress claimed that the crowd in Rahul, Akhilesh Roadshow is double the crowd of PM Modi’s rally.

Senior leaders from both the parties including Ghulam Nabi Azad, Raj Babbar, Deependra Hooda, Jitin Prasada, Dharmendra Yadav participated in the 10 KM long road show today.
Starting from Ambedkar Chauraha, Akhilesh Rahul roadshow will move towards Girijaghar Chauraha via Nadeshar-Chowka Ghat Pani Ki Tanki-Doshipura, Gol Gaddha Pili Kothi, Maidagin-Chowk and Gadaulia.
The earlier roadshows by the duo were held in Lucknow, Allahabad and Agra.
The SP Congress alliance is keeping no stone unturned to woo the voters in PM’s constituency. They have launched a social media campaign ‘Chalo Kashi’. So far, more than 5000 students have joined the campaign.
Rahul and Akhilesh have asked students in universities and colleges across the country to join them in the ongoing election campaign in Varanasi.
The students and Volunteers are provided with Akhilesh Rahul T shirts to wear and they are taking part in door to door campaigns, street plays and distributing letters, which contain the SP Congress alliance’s 10 promises, in villages.
Varanasi goes to polls on March 8 which is the seventh and final phase of Uttar Pradesh assembly election. Counting will be announced on March 11 for all the phases. Today 6th phase of polling is ongoing in UP.
