Devotees across India offer prayers on first Monday of ‘Sawan’

New Delhi, July 30: The auspicious ‘Sawan’ or ‘Shravan’ month has begun and devotees across the country are engaged in offering prayers and seeking the blessings of Lord Shiva on Monday. 

According to the Gregorian calendar, Sawan falls during July-August.

Sawan’s Monday is considered as most auspicious day as it is believed that worshipping Lord Shiva is 108 times more powerful than worshipping during other days.

In the spirit of pure devotion, Lord Shiva bhakts observe a day-long fast on Monday during the entire holy month of Sawan.

Today, July 30 marks the first Monday of Shravan and it holds greater significance.
