Priyanka Chaturvedi

Jan 10 : Congress specifically attacked Prime Minister for sacking of ALok Verma as CBI Chief and said Narendra Modi took the desperate decision to avoid being probed by the investigative agency under Verma on the Rafale deal.

Congress spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi said, “Hurried decision shows desperation level to ensure he gets out of the way as he was going to probe Rafale scam..”

” In his dissent note,he(Kharge) has mentioned the loopholes in the manner in which constitutional norms were bypassed by Government,” she added.

Sachin Pilot, Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister said, ” There is something murky going on which needs to be investigated, the Congress party has already objected to it. Something very suspicious about all this.”

The select committee comprised Modi, CJI nominee Justice AK Sikri and Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge. CBI Additional Director M Nageshwar Rao will look after the duties of CBI chief till a new appointment or until further orders.

Kharge said during the meeting that Verma, who was sent on a forced leave, should not be penalised and be given an extension of 77 days for which he was not allowed to attend the office. This is the second time Mr. Kharge has objected to Mr. Verma’s removal.
