BJP president Amit Shah on Friday asserted that government’s move to demonetize high-value currency notes will be good for the economy and advised the citizens to support this move against corruption.
Shah, while addressing a press conference, narrated that the government was taking steps to deal with the problem faced by people in the process of implementing the decision to demonetize notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000.
“The Narendra Modi government has embarked on a campaign to end corruption. I appeal to people to join in and give it speed,” Shah said.
Shah admitted that people are facing problems as they have to wait in queues outside ATMs to get fresh cash, he has asked the people to extend their cooperation.
“The step which has been taken will greatly benefit the economy,” he said.
Shah also said there will be no inquiry on people depositing up to Rs 2.5 lakh in demonetized currency in banks.
The party president also told that there will people who deposit amount up to 2.5 lakh, there will be no inquiry for the same.
Shah narrated that there is no need to hurry as the currency notes will be accepted until December end and added that “the middle class, the poor and small traders will face no problems.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced that the government had decided to demonetize Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes to tackle the menace of black money.
