Demonetization Protest: Shashi Tharoor, others detained by Kerala Police

Jan 6: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor along with other leaders was detained on Friday by Kerala police and was released later. They were protesting against Demonetization outside the office of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram.

Shashi Tharoor, after he was released, said that “We were sitting on a peaceful dharna outside RBI office but we were arrested by Police and were later released.”

Earlier, Tharoor had criticised the government over the poor implementation of demonetisation. Speaking against demonetisation, Tharoor called the move for a “cash-scarce” economy and not “cash-less” economy.
