Demonetisation anniversary: Congress protests in Delhi’s Connaught Place

New Delhi, Nov 8: Hundreds of Congress party workers staged protest here near Cannaught Place on Wednesday evening to mark first anniversary of demonetisation.

Rebel JDU leader Sharad Yadav participated in the protest rally, news agency ANI reported.

Earlier on Tuesday midnight, members of the Youth Congress protested outside  the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in Delhi.

However, several opposition parties are also observing November 8 as a ‘Black Day’.

Last year on this day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the demonetisation with aim to curb black money and corruption.

While the BJP and its allies, including Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal-United and the Lok Janshakti Party of Ram Vilas Paswan, celebrated November 8 as “anti-back money day”.
