Guwahati, Nov 9: Senior Congress leader and former Finance Minister P Chidambaram on Friday described the Demonetisation as an ill-conceived move.
“Demonetisation was an ill-conceived move, inspired by one or more persons who are totally unqualified on matters concerning money and the economy”, said while addressing a press conference at Rajiv Bhavan, Guwahati.

He made this remark, on two years of demonetisation.
Yesterday he attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party saying, ” the consequences of demonetisation have been catastrophic. Millions of people were pushed into debt; millions lost their jobs; thousands of MSMEs were shut down; over a hundred people, including persons from West Bengal, died while standing in queues”.
The Congress is holding protests in several parts of the country against the Narendra Modi government’s decision to demonetise currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 two years ago on November 8.
