New Delhi, 1st January: Delhi government may impose a fee of rupees 200 from residents for picking up their garbage. Three Delhi municipal corporations including NDMC and Delhi Cantonment Board approached Delhi government’s Urban Development ministry with this proposal.
According to a story published in Times of India quoted a senior official saying that the proposed rates of user charge varied from Rs 50 to Rs 200 per month for domestic waste generators depending on the category of the locality. The officer also told TOI that the decision will be taken after a proper consultation with all parties. The officer also informed that the service of picking up garbage may change according to the prices.
“The proposal that the UD ministry has received from local bodies proposes a Rs 50-200 monthly user charge for domestic generators. Commercial establishments, such as restaurants and religious institutions, will have to cough up Rs 2,000 a month for collection of their garbage. Civic bodies want to execute this framework under the municipal solid waste (management and handling) rules,” the official added.
