Delhi woman dragged as saree gets stuck in Metro door

New Delhi, April 16: A 40-year-old woman suffered head injuries on Tuesday after her saree got stuck in the closing doors of a Delhi Metro train as it was about to leave a station, due to which she got dragged on the platform.

The woman identified as Gita, a resident of Shastri Park, was travelling with her daughter.

According to Delhi Metro Rail Corp (DMRC) officials, the incident happened around 9.20 a.m. at the Moti Nagar station on the network’s Blue Line.

In a tweet, the DMRC informed that the services were briefly affected between the Moti Nagar and Rajendra Place stations.

Once a portion of the saree got jammed when the train doors closed, Gita, fell on the platform and was dragged for a few meters till the driver applied the emergency brakes.

The woman had reportedly boarded the train at Nawada station and got off at Moti Nagar. She was given first aid and rushed to a hospital.
